The Soca River is number one in Slovenia! Beautiful, azure and transparent water makes it unique. 137 kilometers long, it also flows through Italy. Most of it is in Slovenia, as much as 95 kilometers, and 42 km – in Italy. It flows out of the Julian Alps and into the Gulf of Venice.
And rafting in Slovenia is an unforgettable adventure for everyone – for the small and the big ones. The Soca River offers us three rafting routes: Family, Standard and Long. It’s thanks to levels of advancement and length that everyone has the opportunity to participate in rafting. It’s a very nice way to spend time in nature, with a hint of adrenaline together with family and friends 🙂
Section: Čezsoča – Srpenica
Scale of difficulty: Easy
Length and duration: 8 km – approx. 2.5 hours
The family route is most often chosen by families with smaller kids, because it is easier and calmer. This is a very picturesque section that will appeal to every kid 🙂
Section: Boka – Trnovo
Scale of difficulty: Medium
Length and duration: 8 – 10 km – approx. 3 hours
The Standard route is longer than the Family route and you can feel the thrill of it. It’s also a picturesque section, that will definitely remain in our memories for a long time.
Section: Zmuklica – Trnovo
Scale of difficulty: Medium
Length and duration: 20 km – approx. 4 hours
This beautiful episode is the longest, unfortunately doesn’t always available. The Rafting this route takes place only in spring, after heavy rainfall when the water level is higher.
Canyoning is another sport you can do it in Slovenia. In addition in Slovenia there are many interesting canyons, including Susac Canyon. It is very popular in the summer season. Because it is easy to visit. But thanks to the beautiful views, clear water, and many places to jump. In the canyon we can find many tobogganes, rock slides, especially at the end of the route, the one 13 meters long! Susac Canyon is short, you can walk it in 2 hours. Finding the canyon isn’t difficult, it’s a very popular, everyone knows his location – it is located about 15 km about the town of Bovec.
The Triglav Park is one of the most beautiful corners of Slovenia. It’s beautiful! It’s name comes from the Triglav peak (2864 m a.s.l.) and is almost entirely located in the Julian Alps. In the Park there are gorges, rivers, streams, forests, valleys and very rich fauna and flora. It’s characterized by “snowy” peaks, rocky trails, beautiful waterfalls and crystal-clear lakes. The whole wonderful landscape is complemented by tiny, charming churches and chapels. The entire Triglav National Park is a magical world of magnificent landscapes that take your breath away, creating from it a unique land based on a natural landscape. Peace and quiet, the sound of streams, the singing of birds is nothing more than an ideal environment, created simply for rest, away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
Bovec is adjacent to the Triglav National Park, it’s a typical mountain town, but it’s also an active sports center in the Soczy Valley, where you will have access to all the attractions offered by Slovenia. From rafting to canyoning, kayaking, trekking, climbing or cycling. In Bovec, it’s also easy to find accommodation, a variety of rooms and pensions, they will provide you with friendly service and kindness, because there is no shortage among residents. And after an active day, you can hide in the tavern and watch the magnificent views through the window, tasting Slovenian specialties.

When staying in Bovec, we have many options for spending time actively. Because If we include Rafting on the Soca River and overcome Susec Canyon. We can also include a bicycle and walking trip. If you find adrenaline lovers, we recommend zip-lining instead of canyoning 🙂 And for history lovers – Slovenia has preserved the ruins of the historic Forts Kluze and Hermann and many chapels in the Triglav Park. And if you like to explore the world traveling by car, it’s worth going to the sea, which is less than 2 hours from Bovec!
In conclusion as you could already see, Slovenia is a place for everyone. The area around Bovec and Triglav Park have many different attractions, thanks to which you will certainly doesn’t be bored. The local residents are extremely nice people who are very hospitable, thanks to which they create a warm atmosphere. So that the tourist feels at home. It’s worth planning a few days to stay here, because definitely two are doesn’t enough 😉 We recommend you go for a week, because after two days no one will want to come back!
